Terms of use

01The service

Tododay gives you a daily todo list that syncs to our server so it survives reinstalls and moves between devices. Today's list closes at midnight, unfinished items are logged as missed, and the list you staged for tomorrow becomes the new day. The service consists of the mobile app, the sync server, and this website. It is free of charge.

The app is distributed through Google Play, so downloading and updating it is also subject to Google Play's terms. This agreement, though, is between you and us: Google is not responsible for Tododay or for supporting it.

02Your account

• You need a valid email address that you control and a password to create an account.
• Keep your password to yourself, you are responsible for what happens under your login.
• If you think someone else has got into your account, change your password straight away (this signs out every other device) and tell us at [email protected].
• One account is meant for one person's personal use.
• You must be at least 13 years old (or the higher minimum age in your country) to use the service.

03Acceptable use

When using Tododay, you must not:

• Attack, probe, overload, or attempt to circumvent the service's security.
• Attempt to access another user's account or data.
• Use the app to store or distribute unlawful content.
• Flood the service with automated or excessive requests or content. Technical limits exist for this; ordinary personal use, even heavy daily use for years, never comes close to them.
• Resell, sublicense, or offer the service as your own.

We may suspend or close accounts that engage in any of the above.

04Your content

Your todos are yours. We claim no ownership over them, and we don't just decline to read them: your task text and display name are encrypted on your device with a key only your password can unlock, so we could not read them even if we wanted to. You grant us only the minimal technical permission needed to store that encrypted content on our server and synchronise it across your devices. This permission ends when your content is deleted. See the privacy policy for how data is handled.

Because we cannot read or recover your encrypted content, you are responsible for keeping your password and the one-time recovery key the app gives you somewhere safe. If you lose both, resetting your password cannot bring your existing tasks back, only a fresh account. This is a consequence of encryption we have no way around, not a limitation we could lift by trying harder.

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve Tododay without owing you anything for it. We will never publish your name or your message without asking you first.

05The app and its name

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Tododay app and this website for your own use, for as long as you follow these terms. The app, the website, their design and code, and the Tododay name and logo belong to us (open-source components belong to their authors and are used under their own licences). You may not copy, modify or redistribute the app, present the Tododay name or logo as your own, or reverse engineer the app, except where the law expressly allows it.

06The service is provided "as is"

Tododay is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-interruption. We are a small operation: we work on the app with care, but we cannot promise uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or that the service will meet your specific needs. Keep your own copies of anything you truly cannot lose.

If you use Tododay as a consumer, you keep every right that consumer law in your country gives you and that can't be waived. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.

07Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from using (or not being able to use) the service. The service is free of charge; to the extent any liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the past twelve months, which is zero. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded (for example for intent or gross negligence).

08Ending your account

You may stop using Tododay at any time. The fastest way is inside the app itself: open Me, tap Manage account, then Delete account, which removes your account and all its data immediately, no waiting on us. The same screen has an Export data option if you want a copy of your tasks first. Without access to the app, use tododay.co/delete-account with a code sent to your email, or write to [email protected].

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Unless the law, a security risk or the nature of the breach prevents it, we will tell you first, explain why, and give you a chance to export your tasks. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give at least 60 days' notice so you can export anything you need.

09Changes to the service and these terms

The app evolves; features may be added, changed, or removed. Whenever these terms change, the date at the top is updated. If they change in a way that matters, we'll give at least 30 days' notice before the change takes effect: on this page, in the app's store listing, and by email to your account address. If you don't agree, you can delete your account at any time. Continuing to use Tododay once a change takes effect means you accept the new terms. Changes the law requires, or that fix a security problem, may take effect sooner.

10Complaints and disputes

If something goes wrong, please write to [email protected] first. We answer every complaint within 30 days and will do our best to put things right. If we can't solve it together, you can turn to the consumer protection authority or the courts of the country where you live; nothing in these terms takes that right away.

11General

• These terms, together with our privacy policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the service. If any part of them turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
• They are governed by the laws of Hungary, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in.
• If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
• You can't transfer your account or these terms to someone else. We may transfer them to a new owner of Tododay, as described in our privacy policy, without reducing your rights under them.
• We contact you by email at your account address, and notices sent that way count as written notice.
• These terms are written in English. If they are ever translated, the English version applies to the extent the law allows.
